Dear colleagues,
I wish to inform you that our university is a partner in the Egracons project of the European Commission (http://egracons.eu/). The aim of the project has been to create an online Grade Conversion Tool to enable universities to translate grades received by exchange students into their national systems in a fair and objective way. I’m pleased to inform you that this pioneering tool has now been launched in its first release and is now available for testing and use by all universities across Europe.

Now is the time to submit your grading tables if you would like your university to be included in the version that will be officially launched after the summer. Submitting your tables guarantees access to the conversion tool.

The first release  of the Egracons tool was received positively by both the Egracons project partners and the external evaluator who pointed to its major qualities such as: user-friendly and intuitive interface, transparent and objective methodology, and a unique approach towards the transcript of grades guaranteed to all universities in Europe. These are the reasons why I would like to recommend you to join the Egracons Grade Conversion system by providing your grading table in a template form available here http://egracons.eu/document/grading-table-instructions-and-template and sending it to Valere.Meus@UGent.be.

In order to understand the concept of the Egracons tool, I’d like to refer you to a short video explaining how the tool works:

We also recommend the Egracons facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Egracons.eu where you can follow other project related activities.

So far, the users of the tool have provided positive feedback, considering it a “turning point in the evolution of mobility schemes, not only in Europe but worldwide”. Furthermore, we wish to add that the tool had been strongly supported and promoted by the European Commission by making a reference to it in the new ECTS Guide.

Therefore, we invite you to contribute to the improvement and fine tuning of this tool, by sending your own grading tables and your suggestions to us, as well as to the team of the Egracons project at Valere.Meus@UGent.be and sgadmin@sgroup.be.

Should  you need further explanations or help do not hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to collaborating with you in this framework, too, and we thank you for your interest.

With best regards,

Jolanta Urbanikowa, University of Warsaw
